All About The Blues At Hoodoo

Melissa Davy is the founder of Hoodoo Blues. When she discovered blues dancing sixteen years ago she never looked back. Furthermore, Melissa adores the creativity and sense of fun that each dance brings. She loves the variety in the music and the relaxed feel of the dance. She’s danced other styles such as jive and tango but blues is her passion. This is why she has built a blues scene in Newcastle-upon-Tyne & Hexham and runs the Belta weekender.
Melissa holds a first class degree and a masters in education, so teaching these classes has meant she has been able to combine two of her passions. She is evangelical when it comes to blues and wants to spread the joy of dancing.
Additionally, she regularly DJs for her local scene in Newcastle, as well as for weekenders across the country. She loves the range of music that blues and fusion has to offer. She spent a year with Nova Radio, which has allowed her to interview musicians and dancers about their favourite music.
Anders is also one of the teachers and DJs at Hoodoo. We’re so lucky to have him here in Newcastle. He is a fabulous dancer and musician, with a vast knowledge about music. He regularly DJs at our party nights, or performs with The Front Porch Band.
