About the event

Beginners course in blues dancing, during the afternoons of the 11th & 12th Feb. You can sign up for one or both days.

Blues dancing comes from the same tradition as blues music. It is an improvised dance, which has a relaxed, grounded feel. This clip is a great example: http://youtu.be/xYtf5Tfdi_w No previous dance experience needed. No partner needed. Social dancing is fun, sociable and creative. In a short space of time, this course will give you the skills and confidence to be able to solo and partner dance. By the end of the course you will know the basics of blues dancing, and know how to dance to different styles of blues music. The course will teach you both how to lead and follow.

Day 1 focuses on we will cover, among other things, posture, pulse, holds, different styles of blues and musicality. Day 2 focuses on close embrace, the main blues dancing hold.

Even if you’ve been dancing a while I still urge you to sign up, as it’s really useful to focus back down on the fundamentals again.

Melissa Davy has years of experience of teaching dance, and is excited to be teaching this class.

The workshop will cover 3 hours of teaching time per day, plus breaks. To book you place please email melissadavy@gmail.com Cost £25 per day/£20 for students

(If cost would preventing you from attending, please get in touch with Melissa, and we can see if we can sort something out)

(If you can't make these dates but would be interested in another event at another time let me know - melissadavy@gmail.com)
