About the event
Blues dancing comes from the same tradition as blues music. It is an improvised dance, which has a relaxed, grounded feel. Here's an example, but there are so many styles of blues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAFb0m1vk_k
No previous dance experience needed. No partner needed.
In a short space of time, this course will give you the skills and confidence to be able to solo and partner dance By the end of the course you will know the basics of blues dancing, and know how to dance to different styles of blues music. We will cover, among other things, posture, pulse, holds, connection, different styles of blues and musicality. The course will teach you both how to lead and follow.
The event is in Hexham but the exact venue will depend on the numbers attending. I’ll give you more information when you book.
Social dancing is fun, sociable, creative.
Melissa has years of experience of teaching dance, and are really excited to be teaching this class.
Arrive for 6:45. The class is from 7pm to 9pm.
The class is a good option for complete beginners, or for people who want to refresh the basics. It’s a good starting course before the 5 week ‘beyond basics’ course held in Newcastle, which starts the following week.
£15 (£10 for students)
Getting there: There are trains from Newcastle central station to Hexham. The return trains are less frequent, but I’m happy to drive people back to Newcastle after class.

If you can't make this date or time, let me know and I'll see if I can organise an event at a time that suits you. (I'm also thinking about Sunday 4th September as a possibility)
